Long County Library in Ludowici, GA

The Missing Chapters (Part One)

By the fine writers at the Long County Library

It was a big wedding party in Downtown Ludowici, and it was taking place at Jeffrey's house on a Thursday night. Jeffrey was a secret agent who was strong and had shiny teeth. His best friend was a guy named Joshua who was as tall as a tree, and very smart.

Joshua had written a book and he carried the only copy ever made with him everywhere he went. It was a book of scary stories, and it was special and magical, because if the stories ever got out of the book, they would come true.

At the party, there was also a girl who looked like a pixie, and had bronze hair. Her name was Alice, and she had heard about Joshua's book from a friend. She loved to read, and she was always curious about things she did not understand or believe. She bumped into Joshua at the party, and unbeknownst to him, she slipped his book out of his pocket.

When Joshua discovered it was gone, he got Jeffrey to help him look for it and figure out what had happened to it. They reviewed the surveillance tapes and saw that Alice bumped into Joshua and quickly left the party. She must be the thief!

Josh was furious, but he was also scared for the town. He knew what could happen if his book fell into the wrong hands! The pair tracked down Alice and the book, but it was too late. Alice had already read the book and torn out nine chapters, and hidden them in a secret compartment. Alice went to jail, but told the townspeople that she would never tell where she had hidden the pages. This could spell the end of life in Ludowici as we know it!

Then, on Saturday morning, the first of the missing chapters started to come true. What happened next is hard to describe.

The End of Part One.

Can YOU write the next chapter? And the rest of the missing pages? Give it shot. Remember to make it scary, and to use descriptive language to let the reader know what's happening!
