Mary Willis Library, Washington, GA

A Tale of Two Cows

By the Washington Library Kids

(Cool Fact: The Mary Willis Library is the first free library to open in Georgia, and has been in operation since 1888! And it's still FREE! When you get to town, look at the big door on the corner. It looks like a castle door!)

The mean cow and the nice cow had trouble. Ben was a really nice brown and purple cow. He didn't have much, but he did own a really special golden bell that was covered with scratches. It was said that at night, ghosts would come out of the bell!

Ben lived in China and loved to take long walks. On a walk one day, Kim, a really mean cow, bumped Ben with her horns, and knocked the bell off of Ben's neck. She picked up the bell with her horns, and took off as fast as her cow legs could carry her.

Ben went to ask his friend, mack the golden eagle, for help. Mack began flying all over the countryside and spotted the bell as Kim was trying to put it on. Mack swooped down and grabbed the bell and took it back to Ben.

In an unexpected twist, Ben and Kim met and became good friends.

The End.

Wow! A story with a happy ending for ALL the characters! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
