Waycross/Ware County Library, Waycross, GA

The Case of the Wal-Mart Diamond

By the Ware County Library Kids

(Cool Fact: This library is the largest library in the largest city in the largest county in the largest state east of the Mississippi!)

It was a cold December day when Jack, the space farmer, went to Wal-Mart. Jack was an interesting character, because he could turn invisible. The problem was that Jack was a thief. He had stolen many things in his career as a criminal, but the one item he treasured most was a priceless canary diamond. He could not sell it, because people would know that he stole it, so he carried it with him everywhere, because it was so beautiful.

On this fateful December day, Deece Duece, a sneaky thief who was as small as an ant and always wore black, was in Wal-Mart and saw Jack. He knew that Jack always carried the diamond with him, so Deece went to aisle 17 and got some sleeping gas, used it on Jack and stole the diamond.

When Jack awoke, he called his good friend El Kabong, who was famous for wearing a mask and cape and carrying a guitar, which he used to stop evil doers. ElKabong grabbed a grenade and blew up Deece and got the diamond back.

After the smoke cleared, it became obvious that Deece had somehow escaped BEFORE the grenade exploded, and got away. When El Kabong found out that the diamond he had retrieved was stolen, he gave Jack a stern talking to and Jack returned the jewel to its rightful owner and abandoned his life of crime. It was just too dangerous.

The End.

That was a pretty good story. What do you think?
