Taliaferro County Library in Crawfordville, GA

A Honey of a Story or I Can't BEAR to Look!

by the Crawfordville kids

(Cool Fact:Taliaferro County is the smallest county in Georgia, with about 2,000 residents. Local businessman, John F. Holden, formed the library for the use of the "Ladies of Crawfordville" in 1916. The library was deeded to Crawfordville upon Mr. Holden's death in 1936. It was his desire that "Crawfordville should have a public library where the people of the town might have an opportunity to meet in a social way and readily get books to read. I have also believed that the people of Crawfordville, especially the ladies and young people, ought to have a place convenient for the purpose of having entertainments in a social way, and it is my wish that the building be used for this purpose." Today the library is used by all ages.)

Once upon a time, there was a giant ferocious bear who wanted to have all the honey in the world. His name was Hagunatee and he was as tall as a 20 story building. He loved every kind of honey, but his favorite was honey straight from the hive. Hagunatee fell asleep eating honey one night and while he slept, Greg, who was as tall as a house, very brave and so strong he could pick up a mountain, snuck into the cave where Hagunatee lay sleeping and stole the bee hive! Hagunatee woke up and chased Greg down the mountain and through the forest.

When Tristan, a tall magician with a long beard, heard Hagunatee bellowing about his missing honey, he decided to use some magic to get it back. He even used a little magic to beat up on Greg and teach him a lesson.

Hagunatee was so happy, he celebrated by - you guessed it - eating more honey!

What an interesting day we had. Three great stories in three very cool libraries! Let us know what YOU think!
